Hair grows on average a little less than half a millimeter, which is about a monthly centimeter and a dozen centimeters a year. However, not all people hair grow at the same rate since there are several factors involved in hair growth.
Beyond the many remedies that advertise hair growth 2.0 from their website portals, recommeding the use of very expensive products that have no influence on the growth or strengthening of hair follicles, the truth is that there are a series of habits that can determine both the speed at which our hair grows and its healthiness.
The first is closely related to our health. Often, hair loss hides some unknown internal problem or appears as a result of a treatment or after taking a medicine. Hence it is fundamental to consult a specialist at the slightest symptom that our hair is not growing at the same rate at which it falls.
In the same way that our state of health influences our hair look, so do our daily habits, such as food and hydration. Indeed the lack of vitamins or Omega 3, among the other substances that are contained in food, causes a weakening of our hair growth. The same thing happens with hydration, since the water deficit seriously damages our hair’s health.
It should be noted that also the intake of pre-cooked products or foods with hydrogenated fats does not help in this sense.
Another habit we should avoid is the use of hair dryer or curling iron. They are tools that damage the follicle roots, causing them to grow weakened, to fall earlier and, in the most severe cases, to damage the structure that hosts and feeds our hair.
One more thing that damages our hair is the use of hair dyes. We particularly refer to those industrial that are more aggressive, since lately they have appeared new natural dyes that are able to offer the same service as the old ones, but without attacking our hair follicle core.
Nor does it help to wash our hair every day and use very hot water, since an excessive washing and very hot water weakens our hair health. Hence, specialists recommend washing hair every two days and scalp every three days, as well as using warm or cold water.
Another of the habits that helps to take care of our hair and grow strong is to perform daily hair massages for about 15 minutes. These should always be done gently and with fingertips.
If even with these daily habits we cannot stop hair fall, we have to consult a specialist as soon as possible to know what is the best way to recover the strength of our hair and, if it fell, to recover it.
